Arnhem - The Supervisory Board of Alliander N.V. has appointed Ingrid Thijssen (45) to the Management Board of the network company Alliander.
Mrs Thijssen will join Alliander on 1 March 2014. Following an induction programme, she will become a Management Board member in mid-May, with responsibility for the grid management company Liander.
The new appointment will increase the size of Alliander’s Management Board from two to three members. Alliander’s Supervisory Board Chairman Ed d’Hondt commented as follows: “Developments in the energy sector place high demands on our company. We feel that expanding the Alliander Management Board will better enable us to address future challenges. Ingrid Thijssen has gained extensive experience in the service industry and in managing large, complex organisations. This makes her ideally suited for her new role.”
Alliander CEO Peter Molengraaf said: “We made major strides forward in the past four years. Alliander was built up and we implemented its direction and profile. In addition to our day-to-day operations and the challenges facing our network operators Liander and Endinet, we are working actively on the energy transition and on structuring the network company of the future. This places heavy demands on both the organisation and the Management Board. I am very pleased that Ingrid Thijssen will be joining us: her capabilities will complement our Board’s expertise. Ingrid has extensive experience in management, and her customer-focus, ambition and enthusiasm will make a valuable contribution to our organisation."
Ingrid Thijssen added: “The energy sector is influenced by many socially relevant operational and strategic issues, for example in the field of sustainability. I am looking forward to contributing to this process. In joining Alliander, I have chosen to become part of an ambitious network company in which I already feel very much at home.”
Mrs Thijssen studied Law at Utrecht University. After graduating, she held various posts with the Dutch railway operator, Nederlandse Spoorwegen. Since 2011 she has been CEO of NS’s passenger train service provider NS Reizigers BV. In addition to her board responsibilities, she is a member of the Supervisory Board at HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht.
