Alliander and open research

Alliander is committed to the development of high-quality new solutions in the areas of energy grids, energy technology and digitalisation. That’s why we carry out research, together with knowledge institutions and partners. We publish this in the form of open research.

Why is open research important?

The challenges that Alliander is facing are too great for us to be able to resolve them on our own. Drawing on knowledge and expertise from outside the organisation is crucially important. For this reason, we work together with research institutions, knowledge institutions, the government and civil society organisations to develop knowledge.

Alliander believes that transparency, research & innovation, and collaboration are essential. It is also important for us to be conscious of costs and of the position we occupy within society. Consequently, Alliander not only contributes to research, but also makes the results available in the form of open research.

Working methods

Alliander collaborates in the field of research in various ways.

Partnering/joint research/subsidy processes

Alliander is open to working with partners from the outset on specific research questions and joint research.

Traineeship/internship/PhD/postdoc

Joint research can also be carried out in the form of traineeships, internships, and PhD and postdoc projects. In this way researchers get the opportunity to test out their research directly in practice and, if it offers sufficient value, it can immediately be put to practical use within Alliander.

Guest lectures

Alliander is open to sharing the knowledge it acquires by giving guest lectures. This allows the research we have carried out to be assessed and shared.

Research Center

Our Research Center is responsible for coordinating and facilitating an open research ecosystem. This Research Center keeps a close eye on developments in the outside world and brings new technologies and research areas to Alliander’s attention.
