Management Board members Marlies Visser and Daan Schut leave Alliander

22 January 2025
Marlies Visser, Chief Operating Officer, is ready for a new challenge outside Alliander. She will hold her position until the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders on 16 April. Daan Schut, Chief Transition Officer, will start from 1 April as director Commercial and Network in the Board of Directors NS.

Annemarie Jorritsma, chair of Alliander’s Supervisory Board: “This joint departure announcement is the result of a confluence of circumstances in recent months. The Supervisory Board was already having discussions with Marlies about preparing her succession. In parallel, Daan also expressed the desire to take a next step to pursue his career. We are grateful to both of them for their years of dedication, commitment and professionalism. We have made great strides with Alliander, partly thanks to the enormous contributions of Marlies and Daan. Marlies, for instance, with a clear vision of the breakthroughs needed, led the accelerated upscaling and tripling of work on the networks of Liander and Qirion. And Daan, with his strategic and innovative ability, developed Alliander’s vision of the future energy system and its services, and tripled the investment portfolio in the energy networks. We are very grateful to them for that.”

Marlies Visser on her departure: “The past years at Alliander have been a wonderful adventure for me. Although there are still great challenges of course, I am extremely proud of the solid upscaling that has been set in motion thanks to the efforts of a huge number of intrinsically motivated, knowledgeable colleagues at Alliander and our chain partners, and have every confidence that this movement will be continued by them. Although I know that I will certainly miss my colleagues soon, I nevertheless feel that after 10 years it is time for me to take up a new challenge that I will explore further at my leisure in the coming period.”

Daan Schut on his move: “I am proud to have been able to work for Alliander. A company with very high quality, innovative capacity and great commitment. Together we have developed the expertise and services that will enable Alliander to build the flexible and integrated energy system of the future. After 15 years of working for this great company with tremendous pleasure and energy, it is time for me to take a new step. Mobility, like energy, is an important part of our daily life and work, and the train is an important factor in making the Netherlands more sustainable. I am looking forward to getting started at NS and working together with my future colleagues to further improve the door-to-door travel experience and work on an affordable trip for all.”

The Supervisory Board has meanwhile started the succession processes.
