Network operator Alliander intends to appoint Menno Snel as a member of its Supervisory Board. The proposed appointment will be put before Alliander’s shareholders at an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGM) on 17 October 2025. If the shareholders approve the appointment, his term of office will commence immediately after the meeting.

Subject to being appointed, from April 2026 Menno Snel will also take on the role of chair of the Supervisory Board. He will succeed Annemarie Jorritsma, who, after ten years, is due to complete her final term of office as chair in April 2026.

Annemarie Jorritsma, chair of Alliander’s Supervisory Board: “I am delighted that Menno Snel has been nominated as a member of Alliander’s Supervisory Board, with a view to also taking over the chairmanship from next spring. His broad managerial experience and social engagement make him an excellent fit, given the challenges that Alliander is facing. Having him on board will allow me to hand over the chairmanship with care and confidence.”

Menno Snel brings a wealth of experience to the role. He is currently a partner and advisor at FGS Global, an international strategic communications agency. His extensive managerial experience in both the public and private sectors is combined with in-depth knowledge of the energy market and a strong engagement with social challenges. He has previously held roles including State Secretary for Finance, director of pension fund ABP, chair of the Supervisory Board of Royal IHC and Chairman of Element NL.

“I am looking forward with a great deal of enthusiasm to joining Alliander’s Supervisory Board. The energy transition has reached a crucial phase, one in which the shaping of the new energy system will play a key role. I am eager to take on this responsibility with conviction, together with the Supervisory Board, Management Board and leadership team,” says Menno Snel.

Maarten Otto, CEO and chair of Alliander’s Management Board, is thrilled about Menno Snel’s intended appointment. “In Menno Snel, Alliander has secured a strong and experienced member for its Supervisory Board, as well as an intended successor as Supervisory Board chair. Menno is an enthusiastic and skilled manager with a keen eye for social developments. His broad experience and in-depth knowledge will bring new perspectives and strategic insights that will be of considerable value when it comes to the future energy system. We are therefore looking forward to his arrival with a great deal of confidence and enthusiasm.”

The EGM will be held on 17 October 2025. Alliander’s shareholders have already received an invitation.
