Charlotte Sanders and Sarike van Wette appointed as Alliander’s COOs
Alliander has a major social mission, namely to realise a future-proof and sustainable energy system and also to provide customers with a suitable solution in the future. In the coming years, this will require exponential growth in the strengthening and expansion of the energy networks and customer connections. Alliander is changing its management structure in order to work on this in a targeted manner, and the implementation of the work package will certainly receive greater focus and attention with two COOs. This is in line with the growth that the company has achieved in recent years. For example, the investment portfolio has tripled and the network company now employs more than 10,000 people. Investments will continue to increase in the years ahead. Alliander wishes to do everything in its power to facilitate economic growth, housing construction and the ambitions of companies and consumers.
COO Customers Sarike van Wette will focus on the provision of services to customers, the realisation of connections, the continuity of the energy supply and the facilitation of energy markets. The focus of COO Networks Charlotte Sanders will lie on planning, prioritising and realising the exponential growth of activities on the energy networks and organising the conditions required for this in cooperation with external partners. As a result, they will both make a significant contribution to the safe achievement of Alliander’s production objectives and meeting the energy requirements of almost 3 million consumers and more than 500,000 business customers. Van Wette and Sanders currently work at Alliander as Maintenance and Outages director and Consumer and Small Business director, respectively.

The current situation requires us to build our infrastructure even faster. We also need to make better use of the electricity network. Together with Charlotte and Sarike, I am confident that we will take the right next steps.”
Charlotte Sanders on her appointment: “In my work for Alliander, the fact that I can contribute to the energy transition and therefore to a more sustainable future has always been a driving force for me. I am now looking forward to doing this as the COO Networks, a position in which I wish to scale up our production in a safe and structured way while focusing on both costs and people. Through closer cooperation within Alliander and with our chain partners, and by encouraging different ways of working, we can further increase our effectiveness. This is urgently required if we are to achieve a future-proof and sustainable energy system for our customers.”
Sarike van Wette on her appointment: “Energy is indispensable for our customers. Our society simply depends on it. I am looking forward to taking our work for customers to a higher level in this position, together with all our enthusiastic colleagues and collaboration partners. Transparency about the current situation on our networks, the right solutions at the right time, the predictability of our services and the safe implementation of our work are very important here. Having the courage to make choices, always with people in mind: this is what I stand for.”
CEO Maarten Otto and CFO Walter Bien hold the position of statutory directors within Alliander, reporting to the Supervisory Board as the Board of Management. Together with the Chief Transition Officer (CTO), Chief Operating Officer (COO) Networks, Chief Operating Officer (COO) Customers, Chief Digital Officer (CDO) and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), they form Alliander’s daily management board as ExCo.
