Governance and organisational structure

The energy transition requires making choices and taking decisive action. Alliander manages this through a clear governance structure and well-organized supervision. Together, they ensure clear choices, careful consideration, and decisive action in implementation. Through commitment to customers, the community, and employees, direction and stability for the long term are established.

Who is
in charge of Alliander?

Management Board

Responsible for managing the organisation

They decide the strategy focused on long-term value creation, are responsible for managing risks, ensure that laws and regulations are followed, and promote a suitable company culture. The Board reports to the Supervisory Board and the General Meeting of Shareholders.

Executive Committee (ExCo)

Provides daily management

The ExCo supports and advises the Management Board. It is a team of seven people who make sure that Alliander’s strategy is actually put into action. Each member has their own area of focus, such as network expansion, customer contact, digitalisation, and HR policy. By working together, we can respond quickly and adapt well to changes in the energy sector.

As of 17 April 2025, the ExCo has 7 members.

The 2 statutory members are:

  • Maarten Otto (CEO)
  • Walter Bien (CFO)

In addition, 5 non-statutory members are part of the ExCo:

  • Heleen Cocu-Wassink (CHRO)
  • Rinke van de Rhee (CDO)
  • Charlotte Sanders (COO Networks)
  • Sarike van Wette (COO Customers)
  • Joris de Groot (CTO)

Supervisory Board

Monitors the Management Board

This board supervises the policy of the Management Board and the overall operations of Alliander. They review important decisions and make sure the company follows the rules. This helps Alliander stay reliable and transparent.

Working together
for the future

At Alliander, people work in many different roles, from engineers and IT specialists to project managers and communications advisors. Everyone has their own role, but we all work towards the same goal: a future-proof energy network for the Netherlands. Our organisational structure helps with this. Clear responsibilities and collaboration between different parts of the company allow us to plan well, keep innovating, and ensure everything runs safely and reliably.
